this post is dedicated to astrid, my mum's bff. this is also a reminder that really great friends are rare and so hard to find, and you can lose them so quickly. nothing new really, but sometimes you have to be reminded. so please GO and show them how much you love them! these originals are for sale now in my etsy shop! i had a very hard time deciding whether i should sell these because they mean so much to me... i spent so much time making them too! days and days... but i decided to let it go, it's a very good exercise for me. i should probably burn everything i make afterwards in order to practice letting go of things! for now, selling will do. you can see more in my etsy or here and here.

dear diary,

i saw this earlier today and it almost made me cry. i'm flattered... but i also believe that there's nothing so superspecial about me really. anything i can do you can do too. i neither have a secret talent nor am i gifted. i'm not trying to be modest, this is truly my honest opinion. reading this also made me think of how i am constantly comparing myself to others aswell, how i always think others are so much greater than me, draw better than me, do much cooler things than me, are happier and prettier than me, etc. i don't believe this is a healthy habit. you and i aren't any better or worse than the people around us, i am slowly learning this. everyone can make something from nothing everyday in their own way. you don't have to watch people doing cool things, you can be the one doing those things! you've got the power! seriously.

on that kathleen hanna quote i posted yesterday: i guess i forgot to say something. i think astrild got it right. of course we should never stop talking to people! of course one should never assume to know someone else's opinion already before actually talking to them. what still annoys me though is people telling me we don't need feminism anymore these days. i don't need to convince these people (and again: kathleen, it's not only men who talk like this!) that feminism is important, because it's just a waste of time and energy.

ps. i miss strawberries already... it feels like it was ages ago that we made and ate those cupcakes.

tomorrow is my first day at uni. i am REALLY REALLY nervous. it took me so long to get to this point, and now i'm finally here, i still can't believe it! i still dream that they sent the confirmation letter to the wrong person. anyway, i just wanted to get something off my chest.

thankyou aisha and ludwig for taking the time to show me yr portfolios and answering all my question SO VERY patiently, thankyou kathrin for showing me how to screenprint, thankyou hannah for always encouraging me in the face of insecurity, thankyou mum and dad for always believing in me and ensuring me that studying visual communication and being a professional illustrator is what i should do with my life. without you i would probably be working in a kindergarten by now.

& thankyou everyone else, you know who you are.
